A powerhouse of Blak creativity, crafting bold stories, sound, and cultural moments.
Awesome Black is a creative studio and cultural consultancy dedicated to amplifying First Nations storytelling across multiple mediums. We operate at the intersection of art, technology, and storytelling, producing high-quality content that challenges norms and reshapes narratives. Our work spans podcast production, music curation, film, photography, creative consulting, and cultural strategy, with a focus on contemporary storytelling through a First Nations lens.
At our core, we specialise in crafting unique and impactful projects that centre Blak voices and perspectives in ways that are fresh, dynamic, and deeply considered. Our past and ongoing work includes:
Creative Consulting – We work with brands, organisations, and institutions to develop authentic and respectful First Nations engagement strategies. This includes curatorial work, event programming, and strategic guidance on embedding First Nations perspectives meaningfully into projects and initiatives.
Music Curation & Industry Engagement – We lead and curate major First Nations music initiatives, such as the Blak Loud playlists for Amazon Music Australia and our Blak Loud Louder music showcase at SXSW Sydney. We are passionate about fostering opportunities for First Nations artists in the music industry and are always looking to collaborate with platforms and organisations that share this commitment.
Podcast Production & Audio Storytelling – We create and produce original podcasts and audio works, including our flagship projects like Petroglyph, which explores creativity and deep thinking through conversations with leading artists and musicians. We also provide consulting and production services for organisations looking to engage First Nations voices in the podcasting space.
Videography & Film Production – We produce visually stunning and conceptually rich short films, music videos, and content pieces. Our work blends landscape cinematography, experimental storytelling, and strong aesthetic instincts to create distinctive visuals. Recent projects include collaborations with musicians and brands to craft compelling visual narratives.
Photography & Visual Storytelling – Our photography work, led by our founder’s expertise in artistic landscape photography, captures the beauty, power, and complexity of place and people. We are always looking for new collaborations that allow us to explore unique perspectives through the lens.
Awesome Black is seeking opportunities to expand our impact and collaborate with like-minded organisations, brands, and creatives. Specifically, we are interested in:
Partnerships & Commissioned Work – We are open to collaborations across podcasting, film, photography, and music projects where we can bring our expertise in First Nations storytelling and creative production.
Funding & Investment – We are seeking strategic funding opportunities to support the development of original content, including new podcast series, film projects, and large-scale creative initiatives.
Brand & Industry Collaborations – We are keen to work with brands and institutions that want to engage First Nations creatives authentically and meaningfully in their campaigns, content, and initiatives.
Speaking & Consulting Engagements – Our team offers insights into creative entrepreneurship, First Nations storytelling, and industry best practices through speaking engagements, panel discussions, and consultancy.
Creative Partnerships with Artists & Organisations – We are always looking to collaborate with First Nations and non-Indigenous artists, filmmakers, musicians, and writers who share our passion for groundbreaking storytelling.
Awesome Black is driven by a vision of innovation, excellence, and cultural impact. We are always evolving and seeking new ways to push creative boundaries while staying true to our core mission of amplifying First Nations stories and artistry. We welcome opportunities to connect, collaborate, and create work that resonates deeply and sparks meaningful conversations.
